KAIA: Keystone’s AI Assistant for Well Operations
How Keystone is embedding AI across its platform and what that means for operators and drilling teams.
In well operations, vast amounts of valuable data are generated every day. Yet much of it remains locked in documents, lost between systems, or recreated from scratch with every new project. Experience doesn’t transfer. Reporting takes time that could be spent on decisions. And the gap between planning and execution remains wider than it should be.
Keystone aims to close this gap with KAIA, the Keystone AI Assistant, embedded across its connected software ecosystem and continuously improving through every well planned and executed on the platform.
Built on operational data, not generic models
Unlike generic AI tools, KAIA is trained on structured operational data from SmartHUB, real well outcomes, and each customer’s own operational history. That domain-specific intelligence builds with every well planned and executed through Keystone, meaning the platform gets more valuable the more you use it.
Current capabilities are already delivering measurable results. KAIA enables up to 60% content reuse from past well plans, significantly reducing the time engineers spend recreating procedures from scratch. Document processing for well operations is faster and more accurate, and speech-to-text for field capture allows crews offshore to log data faster, with less interruption to their work.
All data processed through KAIA is kept within the customer’s own LLM.
Part of a broader strategy
AI integration is central to Keystone’s 2026 business strategy. The goal is to embed intelligence directly into core product workflows – improving planning, execution, and reporting across the board. For customers, that means more personalised experiences and faster value creation. For Keystone, it means building a platform that strengthens with every well and creates a foundation for continued expansion.
Mapped across the full platform
The workflow begins in Digital Well Planning. Through SmartHUB, the same well data flows across the operation enabling AI-assisted planning and execution without re-entry or duplication. From there, AI capabilities are embedded into every module:
In Timeplanner, structured timelines benefit from AI-supported optimisation, helping teams plan more accurately based on real operational history. Procedures connect instructions directly to planned activities, built from templates, operational experience, and AI-assisted learning. Offshore, Execution View captures real-time data that feeds directly into Report View, delivering AI-assisted insights and AI-drafted daily reports that support faster decisions onshore and offshore. At the portfolio level, Masterplan gives teams a multi-well, multi-rig view of operations supported by AI-supported planning at scale.
This full suite of AI capabilities will be live across the platform by early 2027 – rolled out across four phases throughout 2026, building from foundational content reuse and automated reporting through to predictive intelligence and real-time execution support.
The result is planning, execution, and reporting working as one AI-driven, connected system.
